Fayette County Man Arrested for Murder of W.Va. Dance Co. Dancer

A deadly end to a domestic situation leads to murder charges against a Fayette County man. Sgt. Larry Lilly with the Raleigh County Sheriff's Office said Jeremy James Lambert, 30, of Oak Hill is facing first-degree murder charges following the stabbing death of a woman in Beckley.

Cyan Elizabeth Maroney, 25, of Beckley was stabbed to death around 8:20 p.m. Sunday evening. It happened on Myers Avenue in Beckley. Lilly said Maroney was pronounced dead at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital shortly after her arrival.

Marina Hunley-Graham, Artistic Director with Theater West Virginia, confirms that Maroney was a dancer with the West Virginia Dance Company. The dance company's website lists biographies of it's members. Maroney's bio lists her as a native of Renick, West Virginia, and a graduate of Connecticut College where she received a BA in Dance. Cyan was a member of Trillium Performing Youth in Lewisburg, and she participated in the 2002 West Virginia Governor's School for the Arts. Lilly said it's believed that Maroney and Lambert had a romantic relationship.

Lambert is being held in the Southern Regional Jail. Lambert has been arraigned before a magistrate. Bond in the case will have to be set by a circuit judge.
