2 taken to hospital following accident on Route 19

MOUNT HOPE, W. VA (WVNS) — U.S. Route 19 was shut down this afternoon as crews worked to clear the scene of an accident. 

Deputies said the call came in around 12:30 on Sunday, January 21. The accident happened at the Mount Hope exit on U.S. Route 19. 

Responders said two of the vehicles involved were blocking the southbound lanes and a third vehicle had rolled over into the northbound lanes. 

Two people were transported to the hospital for treatment. 

Deputies and members of the Mount Hope and Oak Hill Fire Departments had the roadway back open to traffic within 30 minutes. 

Jan Care and General Ambulance were on scene to provided medical care and transport. 

 The accident remains under investigation by Deputy First Class S.K. Neal and Deputy E.S. Pridemore of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department.
