Lewisburg PD receives new police cars

LEWISBURG, WV (WVNS ) --  Officers in Lewisburg are riding in new cruisers, thanks to the support from city council.

In January of 2017, the Lewisburg police department approached city council to replace several cars. Council approved the lease purchase of six new cars for the police department.

The upgraded 2018 Chargers have all wheel drive which officers say will help immensely in the winter months.

Police Chief Tim Stover said, the polished look of the cruisers gives the police department a positive image.

"We've had a lot of nice comments on them about the looks, and professional way they present the city. We're real excited about them," Stover said.

Officers have been patrolling in the new cars for several months now.
