Man admits to breaking into and stealing from business for drugs

LEWISBURG, W. Va. (WVNS) -- A man who admitted to stealing from a business in Lewisburg to trade the stolen items for drugs is sitting behind bars Wednesday morning. 

Travis William Moyer, of Fort Ashby, is charged with burglary, grand and petit larceny along with conspiracy.

On Friday, December 22, Deputies responded to a break-in at a pawn shop on Jefferson Street in Lewisburg. Some of the items stolen included a gun, gold rings, knives, earrings, necklaces, watches and cash- totaling more than $5,000. 

Deputies said on Sunday, December 24, they pulled over a vehicle on Stonehouse Road. Inside the vehicle, they found a gun and tool box that matched the description of some of the stolen items. 

The driver told law enforcement he had recently picked up the items from Moyer's home. Moyer also had an active warrant for petit larceny through the Lewisburg Police Department. 

Deputies report Moyer admitted to breaking into the business and stealing the items to trade for drugs. 

Moyer was arrested and is in the Southern Regional Jail on a $33,000 bond.
