Police Encourage Drinking Responsibly During the Holiday Season

During the holiday season law enforcement sees an increase in people Driving Under the Influence.

With days off work and holiday parties - officials say more people are drinking this time of the year. According to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration, almost 29 people a day in the United States died last year from alcohol impaired accidents.

Tim Stover, Lewisburg Chief of Police, said he encourages everyone to enjoy the holidays, but be safe while doing so.

"We do see an increase in our DUI arrest, we would encourage people to if they're going to go out and have some alcohol to have a designated driver or call a cab, if they've had too much to drink," Stover said.

Law enforcement does want to remind you that drunk driving can result in possible jail time, loss of your drivers license and increased car insurance.
