UPDATE: Second man arrested for stealing thousands of dollars worth of copper

UPDATED STORY 12/18/2017 

PANTHER, W. Va. (WVNS) -- A second McDowell County man has been arrested for stealing thousands of dollars worth of copper from Frontier Communications. 

Nicholas Eugene Hunt is accused of stealing more than $20,000 of copper from Frontier Communications on four separate occasions. Frontier Communications contacted State Police about copper missing on December 4. Troopers traced the copper to local recycling businesses in Brushfork and Davy. 

On December 13, 2017, troopers also arrested Arthur James Rowe who they said is also involved in the thefts. 

Hunt is being held at the Southwestern Regional Jail on a $20,000 cash only bond.

DAVY, W. Va. (WVNS)-- A McDowell County man has been arrested for stealing thousands of dollars worth of copper from Frontier Communications. 

According to court documents, Arthur James Rowe was arrested on December 13, 2017. He faces grand larceny, destruction of property, transferring stolen property and conspiracy after stealing thousands of dollars in copper and selling it to local businesses in McDowell County. 

Frontier contacted State Police about copper missing on December 4. Troopers traced the copper to local recycling businesses in Brushfork and Davy. Both businesses provided troopers with receipts showing they purchased the copper from Rowe and another man. 

According to Frontier, the total estimated value of the lost and damaged property is $20,200.
