LATEST: More charges filed in McDowell County armed robberies

11:30 a.m. Dec. 27, 2017 UPDATE:

The suspect in two armed robberies that happened in McDowell County has been arraigned.  Deputies said Angela Nichole Pistorius admitted to holding up the Sammy's, a Marathon gas station and convenience story, in Iaeger.   She is facing charges of armed robbery and petit larceny for that crime.

Pistorius is also accused in an armed robbery that happened in Lex, WV.  That crime is being investigated by the West Virginia State Police.  She was arraigned in front of Magistrate Richard Vandyke on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017. 

Her bond was set at $75,000 for the crimes in Iaeger and in Lex.  She is being held in the McDowell County Holding Unit until she be be transferred to the Southwestern Regional Jail.


12:15 a.m. Dec. 27, 2017 UPDATE:

A woman is in jail after deputies said she robbed two businesses in McDowell County.

Angela Pistorius, 36 from Iaeger, was arrested Tuesday night and is now facing two counts of first-degree armed robbery along with an outstanding warrant for fraudulent schemes. 

According to Sgt. R.A. Daniel with West Virginia State Police Detachment in Welch, Pistorius was caught afterallegeldy robbing store clerks at a Marathon Station in Iaeger on Tuesday. 

She was suspected of another armed robbery that happened on Christmas Eve at the Dollar General in Lex. 

Deputies said Pistorious admitted to both crimes. She's now being held in the Southern Regional Jail. 


An armed robbery on Christmas Eve is keeping State Troopers in McDowell County busy on Christmas Day.  According to investigators, a woman came in to the Dollar General in Lex, WV at around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2017.  Employees said the woman was carrying a pistol and demanded money.

Troopers said she got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.  She left the store and may have gotten into a car that was waiting for her.  There is no description of the vehicle available.

The suspect is described at a slender white woman who stands around 5-feet 10-inches tall. She has light blue eyes and clerks said she has a raspy voice.  She was wearing faded blue jeans, a black hooded jacket and a black ski mask.
