Troopers: McDowell man arrested for breaking into home, hitting couple with wooden table leg

RODERFIELD, W. Va. (WVNS) -- A McDowell County man is in jail after troopers said he broke into a couple's home and beat them with a wooden table leg.

Joshua N. Justus, of Mohawk, is facing a long list of criminal charges including kidnapping, assault, battery, burglary, unlawful wounding, unlawful possesion and conspiracy.

Troopers said on Wednesday, December 13, Justus and another woman broke into a home in the Roderfield area of McDowell County. Once he was in the home, Justus allegedly began hitting a couple in the head with a wooden table leg and held them hostage.

Court documents state one of the victims tried to call 911 but Justus took the phone and hung up. When dispatchers tried calling the number back, Justus told them children were playing with the phone.

Dispatchers still sent a trooper to the scene. There, troopers found Justus and arrested him.  During the arrest, troopers said they found seven soboxone strips on him.

Justus is in jail on a $50,000 bond.
