Former Coal Executive Donates Money to Mercer County School

  A former coal executive with ties to Mercer County is working to make sure kids can get a great education. 

Former President of EIMCO Machinery International in Bluefield, West Virginia, Carl Schrock, stopped by Memorial School on Wednesday to present a $15,000 donation.

The money will be used to buy children's books, hands on STEM projects,  and will also cover transportation expenses for educational field trips. 

"I had a few bucks and I wanted to put it somewhere where it would do some good," Schrock said.  "And what better place than education and with young kids to get started off right and that was the main reason for doing it. Loving southern West Virginia and for kids to get started off right."

Schrock is a Pennsylvania native but lived here in Southern West Virginia for more than 30 years.  Prior to becoming the CEO  of he worked at Joy Manufacturing in Bluefield Virginia. 
His son attended Memorial School in Bluefield, West Virginia back in the 60's.
