Traffic pattern change on I-77 construction in Mercer County

- Construction on I-77 near the border of West Virginia and Virginia is making a change on June 12, 2018.  According to the West Virginia Division of Highways, the contractor is switching traffic into the left hand lane.

The change is to allow the contractor to rehabilitate and reconstruct a nine mile stretch of highway.  The southbound lanes are not affected by the change.

Truck traffic is still required to detour at Exit 1 onto U.S. Route 52 then circle onto U.S. Route 460 to get back on I-77 at Exit 9 in Princeton, WV.

The first phase of work is taking place from dawn until dusk.  Traffic controls will remain in place when crews are not working.  This is for safety reasons.  The speed limit in the nine mile work zone is 55 mph.  Law enforcement officers are monitoring the interstate and the detour.

The work will continue until the last week of June.  The northbound lanes will open for the July 4th weekend.
