Monroe County woman faces child neglect charges for second time

PETERSTOWN, W. Va. (WVNS)- A Monroe County woman faces child neglect charges for the second time after leaving toddler alone for several hours. 

Kristen Corell was arrested on December 11, 2017, and faces gross child neglect after leaving her young child alone in the home for several hours back in September. 

Court documents state on September 15, 2017 the grandparents of the child saw the toddler standing alone in the doorway of it's home across the street from their house. The grandparents took the child to their home and told their other granddaughter to call 911. 

A child protective services official responded, and after talking with Kristen Corell and the child's father, removed the child from the home. The two admitted the child was left alone for a period of time.

On September 17 during another interview Corell confessed to leaving her daughter alone for 2-3 hours. 

According to court documents, Corell was previously convicted through the State of Virginia for child neglect- reckless disregard for life. 

Court documents also state Corell was arrested on September 17 in Dublin, Virginia and charged with assault on law enforcement, fire, recue personnel- simple assault.

Corell remains in the Southern Regional Jail on a $10,000 bond.
