High School Student Runs for House of Delegates

A Senior at Shady Spring High School is running as a republican for the House of Delegates. 18 year old, Zach Meador said after watching the 2012 and 2016 elections, his interest in politics sparked. He told us that he's always wanted to help the community, and politics is a great gateway to doing that. Zack has successfully registered 100% of eligible students at his school to vote and he's also received the honorary secretary of state award in the past week. He said his run for the 29th district of the House is for his peers.

"I feel that young people feel under represented in our state, we are the second oldest state in the united states, age wise and I believe that's the reason why a lot of young people are leaving to pursue their careers and their lives somewhere else. I'm running to show those young people that you have a voice and you can stay in the state you love and you can have a job here, and you can work here and live here and make a family here. I don't want you to leave, we need you," Zach Meador said.

Zach is beginning to campaign and is excited for the elections in May, he said no matter what happens this will be a great learning experience for him.
