Holiday Shipping Deadlines for USPS

The holidays are right around the corner which means many people are rushing to the post office to send out their last minute packages.

It's not too late to have your presents arrive before Christmas. If you're shipping with the United States Postal Service (USPS) internationally, for Priority Mail Express the deadline is Dec. 14, and for Global Guaranteed it's Dec. 19. For USPS domestic shipping, the First Class package service deadline is also Dec.19 and for Priority Mail it's Dec. 20. Priority Mail express gives you a couple more days.  That deadline is Dec. 22.

The post office is also offering the option to have your present delivered on Christmas Day, but the longer you wait to ship your package the more expensive it will be. The postmaster in Beckley, Michele Foster, said they're working hard to get everyone's packages on the doorstep in time.

"Our staff is heavy, we want to obviously get every piece of mail delivered to you everyday, so I mean the holiday peak season we do staff very heavily and have carriers that will actually just run packages to make sure they'll get delivered timely," Foster said.
