One local church is spreading holiday cheer

A church community in Raleigh County is working to spread some holiday cheer.

The Crab Orchard Baptist Church held their 7th annual Christmas "Eve" Eve dinner, Saturday, Dec. 23rd, 2017. Members of the church donated toys to give out to kids, and the knitting club even made hand-made hats for guests.

Volunteers worked to serve guests as well as prepare meals for those in need.

One of those volunteers, Melissa Fox, said it's a blessing to be a part of such a wonderful congregation giving back to others.

"I am very excited to see how we can share the love of God through our community from our little church here in Crab Orchard," said Fox.

Scott Dameron is another volunteer at the Crab Orchard Baptist Church, he said seeing the community come together is a wonderful thing.

"Fellowship is great. There's a lot of lonely people here in our community as well that don't have families, so to come here and be a part of our family is wonderful for us," said Dameron.

The Crab Orchard Baptist Church was filled with people from the community getting into the Christmas spirit.
