District 28 delegate John O'Neal moves to Governor's staff

(WVNS) -- A delegate from southern West Virginia is taking on a new role in the West Virginia government.  John O'Neal (R-District 28), who represents Raleigh, Summers and Monroe Counties, is stepping down from his position in the House of Delegates.

According to a spokesperson for Gov. Jim Justice (R-WV),  O'Neal will be taking on the role of legislative liaison.   He will be working for Legislative Director Bob Ashley.

O'Neal is a Republican who was first elected to the house in 2010.  According to the West Virginia Legislature's website he was also serving as the Assistant Majority Leader in the House.

A replacement for his position will be recommended by the local Republican Executive Committee.  It will then go to the Governor's desk for his approval and appointment.
