Man accused of shooting Alderson police officer faces judge

HINTON, W.Va. (WVNS) - The man responsible for shooting and critically injuring police officer faced a judge, Thursday, Nov. 30.

Frederick Tolliver is facing three counts of malicious wounding and five counts of attempted murder. He's accused of shooting Alderson Police officer Mac Brackenrich, who was off-duty at the time of the incident.

Witnesses took the stand on what happened the night of Oct. 27, 2017. This was the night Brackenrich was shot along with three others who received minor injuries. The case will now be moved to a grand jury for a probable cause hearing.

Prosecuting Attorney Larry Harrah said the grand jury will decide how to proceed with the case.

"The case will be fully, fully reviewed at this point to see what other charges or possible additional charges may be presented to the grand jury," Harrah said.

According to Brackenrich's mother, he has been moved to Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia. She said he has no movement from the shoulders down and has been on a ventilator for nearly five weeks.
