Museum launches blowout sale to help with flood repairs

Curators at the Historic Crab Orchard Museum in Tazewell County are dealing with a flood of trouble after a water main break over the weekend.

A pipe burst in the kitchen's ceiling and sent hundreds of gallons of water spewing into offices, hallways and bathrooms.

The damage is estimated to be in the thousands and now employees are calling on the community to help with renovation costs.

The museum has launched a blow out sale on several items inside the gift shop, some are marked down to 70%. This includes everything from home decorations, cosmetics, candles and gifts.

"There's house hold items, books and candles a lot of different things that are on sale," Joan Yates said.  "Our books are 15 percent off and candles are 50 percent off. Everything else is 50 percent  to 70 percent off."

The sale will be going on until Saturday and the museum is also accepting monetary donations.
