BECKLEY -- Police say a pregnant cat was shot and killed about 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Louis Richie Apartments. About that same time, another man attempted to shoot a man in his front yard in Bolt, but instead killed the man's dog.
Both suspects are facing charges of felony animal cruelty.
"A telltale sign a lot of time when you start going back look at these sexual predators, especially murderers and serial murderers, you go back into their history and find there's cruelty to animals," said Beckley Police Cpl. David Allard.
Police believe juveniles living in the apartment complex were involved in the death of the cat.
Police are still looking for suspects in the dog's death.
Anyone with any information about either crime should contact their local police
