WHEELING -- The Wheeling Nailers announced Thursday their first signing for the 2007-08 season by bringing back last year's captain, Sean Collins.
And they also announced Head Coach Glenn Patrick will be returning for his third season with the team
Collins, 24, will return for his third season as well with the Nailers after leading the team in assists 49 and points 76 last year.
He rejoins the club, not just as the on-ice centerpiece to their offense, but he also will assume the role of offensive assistant coach to Patrick.
Patrick's team last year just missed the playoffs by two points. He led the team to the playoffs in his first season, during the 2005-06 season and a first round playoff win over the Reading Royals -- the team's first playoff series win in eight seasons .
The Nailers are expected to announce their defensive assistant for the upcoming season in the near future.
They open the season Oct. 18 against the Johnstown Chiefs. The 20th anniversary season of the ECHL their home opener is Oct. 26 against the South Carolina Stingrays.
