Group promotes equal parenting.
By Kate Krivanek
BECKLEY -- Several national organizations are teaming up in Beckley to ensure kids in broken families have access to both parents equally.
CRISPE or Children's Rights Initiative for Sharing Parents Equally and Men and Women Against Discrimination set up shop at the corner of North Fayette and Prince Streets today to rally for their cause.
Larry Kerkman is the founder of CRISPE. He began the organization nearly 6 months ago after he says he was victimized by the court system in California.
He purchased the 42-foot motor home when he could no longer afford both child support and his mortgage.
Now he tours the United States.
Both organizations urge parents, grandparents and other supporters to bring their children, friends and stories to help increase public awareness about ongoing efforts at both the state and national level to reform family law.
The CRISPE bus will stop in Clarksburg tonight then Cumberland, Maryland tomorrow on its way to Washington, DC for the National Family Rights Rally at the Lincoln Memorial this weekend.
