Freshmen are being required to volunteer.
By Adam Baker
ATHENS- -- The curriculum at one local college is expanding to more than just the traditional academics.
Concord University in Mercer County is requiring incoming freshman to volunteer this semester.
The requirement is part of a university orientation class.
Coordinators of the project say it's all part of a well-rounded education. Students are involved in a number of service projects.
One includes building a park near the Athens Post Office.
The green space features several benches and trees.
