SOPHIA -- Under the direction of the West Virginia Extension Service and the Coal Heritage Trail Authority the trolley is ready to hit the road.
The focus is tourism, a way to boost interest.
The Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine will team up with the town of Sophia.
The tours will run from the coal mine through Raleigh County and even into Wyoming County.
Along the way stops will be made at different locations.
Already 5 tour groups have booked tickets.
"The town is really not looking to make any profit off of the trolley. If we can get the trolley to break even and we can bring people into the town and promote business in town, that's the main object," said Harry Taylor, Sophia mayor.
Tour guides and drivers will be hired to run the tours.
The trolley holds 27 passengers.
And when the tours are not running, it will be used as a transportation option for senior citizens. There is a set back.
The town is waiting for the final approval from the Public Service Commission.
Then Mayor Taylor says tours will begin.
