GLEN DANIEL- -- Girls scouts volunteer to dig in the dirt.
A Raleigh County troop helped make the exterior of their school a little brighter.
About a dozen girls from Troop 5396 had a lot of work to do after school, Thursday.
They spent the evening planting flowers.
The activity was part of an Earth Day project.
The flowers were planted in the front lawn of Trap Hill Middle School.
"My troop leader talked to the principal and asked them if we needed some help around the school and they said we could plant flowers." said Caila Hill, Girl Scout.
This is also part of a community service project for the group. Troop leaders say it's a great way to educate the young girls about the environment. Every member was responsible for planting at least one flower into the ground.
