First annual walk scheduled.

By Alicia Suka

BECKLEY --  Theatre West Virginia is raising for its Professional Training Academy.

The first five-mile walk is scheduled for Saturday.

Organizers are encouraging everyone to head out to the Beckley-Raleigh County Y-M-C-A Sports Complex to participate.

Registration starts at noon - the walk starts just after 1-o'clock. It's $15 per person to participate.

The Professional Training Academy works with kids, ages seven and up, with acting and musical theatre.

"We have kids from my acting classes, I teach acting. We have kids from close to Charleston all the way down from Bluefield that come here because there's no where else that does it," said Adam Bryan with Theatre West Virginia.

Theatre West Virginia enrolls students for a spring and fall semester.

This year the group will offer scholarships through the Tish Family. Organizers say they're hoping to provide money for three to five students to attend the Professional Training Academy for free.
