Alzheimer's and autism patients will benefit.
By Kate Krivanek
Lewisburg -- The Greenbrier County Sheriff's Department is keeping a close eye on its residents. Sheriff James Childers says deputies will be trained on Project Lifesaver before the end of the summer.
Project Lifesaver involves using bracelets to help keep track of patients with Alzheimer's, autism and other diseases.
The bracelets allow police to find the patients quicker and reduces the potential for serious injury.
Project Lifesaver involves both adults and children. Sheriff Childers says with the tracking bracelets, search times have been reduced from hours and days to minutes, "It just cuts down on a lot of man power. We don't want anymore missing. We want to find them in good shape. We just don't want them left out there in the woods and their families worrying."
Sheriff Childers says he plans to open the Project Lifesaver training to law enforcement throughout the state.
