48th annual 4th of July celebration

By Kate Krivanek

ALDERSON --  Alderson celebrates 48 years of 4th of July fun.

Organizers are calling it West Virginia's largest Independence Day celebration.

The 48th Annual Alderson 4th of July Celebration will begin Thursday and continue through July 6.

From music and contests to parades and fireworks, Mayor Luther Lewallen says, this festival offers a little bit of everything for the whole family, "If you are over here, especially on the 4th of July, that day you will see a lot of smiles, and a lot of having just plain fun."

Saturday's fireworks kick off at 10pm on the football field. Monday, July 6th, is the annual rubber ducky race. Tickets are on sale now for that event.
