WELCH -- Welch Community Hospital welcomed Senator Jay Rockefeller on Monday as he presented brand new equipment to the hospital.

Two years ago Rockefeller contacted GE Healthcare of America to help upgrade the hospital.

GE was able to provide new machines including an EKG machine, portable fetal monitors, ultra sound and CT scans, and a digital mammography machine.

Rockefeller says this ensures that patients in Southern West Virginia will receive advanced care at Welch Community Hospital.

"It gives people in from McDowell County and surrounding counties confidence that if they have a crisis that they can come to a hospital that has already been good, but is now a whole lot better," said Senator Rockefeller.

Thank you GE and Senator Rockerfeller. I am not a resident of McDowell or the surrounding counties but I do have family there and I am thankful for your help and kindness.
