Depression during pregnancy can be a problem for women, health officials are preparing for more cases of the swine flu, and strenuous exercise may take a toll on your memory.

Story by The CBS Newspath

We've all heard about postpartum depression but depression during pregnancy may be more common than previously thought. A survey of nearly 800 pregnant women found that 44 percent had symptoms of depression during their pregnancy. Researchers found those women had nearly twice the risk of giving birth early, increasing the health risks for their baby.

Health officials are preparing for more cases of the H1N1 flu this fall. They say despite the heat and humidity of the summer, the virus also known as swine flu continues to thrive. Experts estimate the H1N1 flu has already infected millions around the world. In the mountain state, 252 cases have been confirmed. Wood and Kanawha Counties have had the most with 78 and 75 respectively. State health officials point out there's no cause for alarm, they are continuing to watch patterns and clusters of the disease.

Strenuous exercise may take a toll on your memory. According to a new study, women who regularly engaged in exercises like running and swimming for decades experienced a significant decline in their memory. However, researchers found moderate exercise like brisk walks or bicycling helped women sharpen their mental skills.
