HANOVER -- Families recovering from the May floods will soon have temporary housing available in Wyoming County.
Construction is underway in Lizzard Creek Park, just outside of Hanover, to install 51 mobile homes.
FEMA is funding this multi-million dollar project.
It's expected to cost roughly $3.5 million.
Crews are working on infrastructure, laying sewer and water lines.
AEP is also on site putting in power-poles.
County Commissioners say so far, 44 families have been approved to live in the park.
"People are going to have a safe place to live until they can be relocated. FEMA is even beginning to relocate those families so they'll have a permanent place to live. Once all of those families have been relocated the park will be turned back over to the county," said Silas Mullins, County Commission President.
The mobile homes are available on a temporary basis.
The families are allowed to stay between 18 and 21 months.
Once the land is turned back over to the county, commissioners will decide how to use the property.
An RV park is one idea.
