I would like to set the record straight. I am not a mom of a finalist, but am a mom. The reason for what was said was, I was helping a friend out and voted over 400 times for one person and their poll sat still while the other one jumped up 3%. Just not sure how that is possible! Unless there were over 1200 votes to my 400 is the only possible way and if that many votes came in at one time then that person should have won because they had the dedication to be on the computer for a long time to win this at 3:00 a.m. and had family and friends voting alot and WOW what dedication. (NO SARCASM MEANT HERE, JUST TRUTH). No hard feelings, that is just the simple truth. I did keep track on how many votes I submitted and that was the outcome. I'm sorry if this caused any heartache or pain! I just wanted to clear this up and if this doesn't help the situation then I should have left it alone. I just wanted to show you what I meant by what I said. HONESTLY, Barbara this is not meant to be mean in any way. I know how it can sound but it truly is not being said as being rude, crude, mean, or hateful!

Looks like Sam had a lot of voting going on last night. Congratulations Sam! Happy early Christmas, like your dad would say...lol

Anyway, to Jesse-you are a talented young man, wish I could have heard more of your voice than your guitar though. You should put more on youtube. Keep up the good work!

A harpy is a creature from Greek mythology that were known for their shrieking. And airy is something with a lot of air. In singing, airiness is a bad quality. It shows that the singer has no control over their voice.

This contest was fun and enjoyment. To all of you who have nothing better to do other than sit around and argue over this..get a life! Just choose who you want to win and get on with your life!

Everyone participating has so much talent. It's just a contest ... win or lose, these 4 are putting themselves out there and showing everyone just what they can do. Having that confidence really means more (especially in the long run) than actually winning. True, I have my opinion on who should win, but that doesn't mean I can't think everyone else is extremely talented as well. Sam has a powerful voice and good stage presence, Courtney's a great singer (I love that song), Jesse is awesome on guitar and has great songwriting ability, and Liberty's percussion group is amazing (believe me, I've performed with them before, they rock). Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but PLEASE let the contest be about these performers, not about the petty arguments, namecalling and putdowns that are showing up now... Give these guys some positive comments on their ability to build them up, not trash them and those who support them, because everyone should be extremely proud of ALL of these contestants. You guys are all amazing and deserve to win, but win or lose, you all have the talent to go far, so don’t give it up, and don't ever let anyone tell you that you aren't good enough!

Can anyone tell me what an airy harpy is? My daughter is in this and someone compared her voice to that. I know it is a negative response but not sure what it is. Can anyone help? Derek Pickens said that about her, so Derek if you are back on here, can you tell me what it means and why you would say something like that. Meant to ask sooner, but actually forgot about it until just now. For some reason it just popped in my head and I can't find the meaning to it anywhere on the internet.

I am so disappointed in all the hateful posts. When the contest first started, all the posts were in support of the poster's favorite contestant. Now all the posts are negative, and especially sad when so-called adults are the ones posting them. I'm a Sam Hight fan from start to finish, but all of these young people are talented, and have been trying to show grace under pressure. Come on people...just show your support. There's no need for name-calling or accusations of cheating. (And really...on an opinion poll? How exactly does one cheat on one of those?)

How does one cheat on an opinion poll? I am Jesse's mother and I didn't care for that remark, he has alot of family and friends. We all need to be graceful here, and remember these are kids. They have accomplished much just by making it to the finals.

How do you know that sam has been letting people rig the polls? She isn't even winning. If you think someone rigged it then it should be the one in first place not second. Second place doesn't get anything! I know losing is no fun but I would hope to think someone isn't cheating to win this. That wouldn't be fair at all if that was the case. Diane, I meant it as a joke. I'm sorry if I offended you or anyone else. I was a member of the band for two years, and we made those kind of jokes all the time. I'm very sorry. The band knows I support them all over the place, and I'm very thankful that they have all been so supportive of me.

It's unfortunate that someone who claims to be a part of Woodrow, ask for a power hour of voting from Woodrow students/parents would then turn around and put them down in their post comments. Sportsman-like conduct must have been lost in translation somewhere in the huge ego deparment!

seriously dude? so defensive.... It seems like you're assuming I meant sam was. There are roughly 400 people in woodrow's graduating class this year, and not all of them think she should win. It is statistically unlikely for even all 400 people to have an impact such as what we've seen. As for the "set the record straight" comment..... well, we'll leave it at that.

To the person who felt the need to comment below: Sam Hight's votes have raised so much because every single person that as voted for her genuinly feels that she is the most talented, enthusiastic, and personable contestant in the running. If you even KNEW the extent to which we support her then you would take your acusations elsewhere, because I assure you that half of Woodrow Wilson's student population would not be spending time voting for her if we did not love her and appreciate the professional level of talent that she exhibits. If you ever question her personal gift for singing that I do certainly encourage you to get in contact with me and I will certainly set the record straight. I would surely hope that perhaps you would learn to appreciate what true support feels like because Sam Hight has mine (and that means before this poll started and long after it will end) She is so deserving and so talented. I have no in all my life seen someone so driven to find success.

can anyone explain the sudden percentage jump in sam's votes? I looked at the results 3 hours ago and sam was only at 26%... I also saw a comment posted earlier asking sam how bad she wanted to win this contest... Its sad that someone would resort to such things... not that I'm implying anyone is involved in any tampering here. I would hope that the winner would win honestly, and not by tampering with the polls. Of course, it's their life. They will have to live with their actions for the rest of it, so by all means.

I am very proud of Jesse and I am very thankful that he has found music as an outlet instead of some of the other harmful things he could have. Each child in this contest is very talented, obviously and each deserves respect. Lets try be good winners and good losers....you have to win with as much grace as you do losing. As the one parent said only one can win. Of course I am voting for Jesse, but that doesn't mean we will be mean if he loses. Good luck to all!

Sam is my daughter...and my wife and I are so incredibly proud of her and are thankful that she has found something to do that she loves so much. I am positive that Courtney's parents, Jesse's parents and the parents of all of the kids in the percussion ensemble are just as proud of their kids...and you should be...your kids are great. But please people....they're kids! Let them have their time. Once they're adults they get plenty of time to deal with back-stabbing stupid nonsense. Obviously, only one of these kids is gonna win and three of them will lose. If my kid wins...awesome...early Christmas. If she doesn't...welcome to the world. But let's please be civil. Through boredom I actually sat and watched all of the videos. All of the people featured on this site are extremely talented and brave. Sam- Your voice is simply amazing. You project well and sounded phenomenal. Jesse- the fact that you wrote your own song and sung it while playing the guitar is pretty awesome. Courtney- you are very talented and still have several years to improve. Judging by sheer talent though, I vote for Sam. Kudos to all =D

To me the most talented person is Courtney. I would buy her album or see her at a show before I would Sam, Liberty High, or Jesse. Sure they are all great artist. But the one with the true talent is Courtney. Also the video for Courtney does not due her justice. I honestly wish the station would put each finalist on air so people can hear them properly.

Every one of these kids put their videos on the internet and the news, so they are all equally brave to even enter this contest. If this contest were about talent instead of just votes, Sam would definitely win.
