TAZEWELL COUNTY, VIRGINIA -- It's a special week for the students at Bluefield College, it's the Duremedes Christian Emphasis week. This is an annual event on campus in Tazewell County. It's a time for students and the community to focus on their faith.

Bluefield College brings in a special speaker for this week and this year it's Craig Tackett, a regionally renowned youth and young adult minister. Tackett says he doesn't sugarcoat his message, which he hopes will resonate with his audience. Tackett says "...Well, we want to be straight. We want to be clear. We wanna be pure. We wanna be biblical, I mean." says the Roanoke, Virginia resident, adding " I'm not here to get any agendas out. I want to preach the word and I know that will not return void. if they walk away, hearts changed, lives changed, even thinking something different than when they walked in, I'll be good with that." said Tackett.

Duremedes Week at Bluefield College started 18 years ago with a gift from Drs. Gene and Jane Duremedes of Princeton. Tackett's sessions will continue through Friday, from 10:00am in the Harmon Chapel on the campus of Bluefield College. The sessions are free and open to the public.
