Washington, D.C. --  An Ohio Valley native, who's been working in the nation's capitol for the past several years, has landed a top spot at the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Maria Lefevre, formally Maria Robinson of Morristown, Ohio, has been named a senior executive at the Department of Transportation. Lefevre is a graduate of Union Local High School and the daughter of Cheryl and the late "Bo" Robinson. Prior to this position, Lefevre was the Chief of Staff for the U.S. Government Printing Office. Lefevre is heading up a group at the D.O.T. to improve the nation's transportation system.

Lefevre said, "there's a summit going on that the Department of Transportation is spearheading right now in the bureau where I'll be working and it's to figure out the safest rules and regulations behind driving, whether it be texting, eating, drinking...those kinds of things. They're working on what's best and what's the safest."

Lefevre was recently honored by the Stevie Awards for Woman in Business for her accomplishments at the Government Printing Office. Lefevre took "executive of the year" honors, as one of the top executives in public and private sector organizations, worldwide. Lefevre was the first female Chief of Staff in the 150 year history of the Government Printing Office.
