Business members introduced job options to students.
Story by Kate Krivanek
BECKLEY -- Raleigh County is working to give it's students options in choosing a career path.
Marquee Cinemas hosted the county's annual Career Day on Tuesday. It's an effort put together by Raleigh County schools and the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce.
Students from Meadow Bridge, Independence and Shady Spring Middle Schools sat in on presentations by a variety of community business members.
"You never really know what's going to come from the seeds that you plant, you know. What they take away is going to be individualized. But we hope that it begins that process of helping them think about the future, as opposed to thinking about the next thirty seconds," says Education Committee Chair, Ron Cantley.
Tuesday's student groups only represented half of the county's schools. Tuesday, Oct. 20, students from Park, Trap Hill, and Stratton Middle Schools will sit in on Career Day.
