LEWISBURG --  Teachers gathered Friday on the Lewisburg campus of New River Community and Technical College for an annual event held by the West Virginia Art Educators Association.

"One of the things that I get enrichment from when I come to one of these conferences is the comaradarie. And as the community of art teachers," said Sandy Shaw, from Woodrow Wilson High School.

The day wrapped up with different activities from clay vendors to photography exhibits.

Shaw added that conventions like the one Friday are good opportunities for businesses to showcase their projects.

What were discussion topics? Who sponsored this 'convention'? Should we assume from the mention of WWHigh that it was only for high school level instructors? How many in attendance? What has changed in the last year regarding Art and education in WV? Any guest speakers? Is Art threatened as a subject taught in our schools by the downturn in the economy like some other states have done from time to time? I hope to learn something when I read news. Surely there must have been something worth mentioning to enhance the article and educate readers. Just a little disappointed.
