Mercer County Jewelry Store Owner Hurt in Afternoon Robbery

Deputies said New Hope Jewelry and Coin in Glenwood was robbed Thursday afternoon.

GLENWOOD -- Mercer County Sheriff's deputies are searching for a dark colored, small pick-up truck that may be involved in the robbery Thursday, Oct 29.

Three men are in the truck which was last spotted on Glenwood Road traveling towards Bluefield.

Deputies said a masked man walked into New Hope Jewelry and Coin around 2 p.m. and demanded cash. Investigators said the man showed the store owner a weapon.

The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money and jewelry.

The store owner was hurt in the robbery. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Detectives said his injuries are not life-threatening.

New Hope Jewelry and Coin is located at the intersection of Route 20 and Glenwood Road in Glenwood.

Anyone with information about the robbery is urged to call the Mercer County Sheriff's Department at 304-487-8364.
