Martins Ferry jumped out to an early lead on arch-rivals Bellaire and never looked back in a 38-7 blowout in one of the oldest rivalries in the state of Ohio.
Casey Bain was the workhorse for the Purple Riders with 153 yards on 26 carries and two touchdowns. Ferry running back Pat Allen dressed, but did not play after hurting his ankle in a loss last week against Wheeling Central.
Ferry quarterback Marco Ricchetti ran for a touchdown, and completed seven of 10 passes for 88 yards and a score.
The win ended Ferry's season at 8-2 and the No.3 seed in Division IV Region 13. They'll most likely host Woodridge (8-2) at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 at Purple Rider Stadium in the opening round of the OHSAA playoffs.
Bellaire ended Jose Davis' first season at the helm with a 1-9 mark.
In Shadyside, the Tigers knocked off Holy Cross from Covington, Ky. 28-7 at Fleming Field.
Quarterback Dylan Kimble threw two touchdown passes, while Brandon Sedinger and Evan Marling added rushing touchdowns in the win.
At 5-5, the Tigers clinched a playoff berth, and could possibly host a first-round playoff game with a Zanesville Rosecrans loss.
In Wheeling, Linsly saw its four-game winning streak snapped with a 35-28 loss against the Columbus Crusaders.
The Cadets (5-4) wrap up the season at 7 p.m. next Friday with a battle against cross-town rivals Wheeling Central at Wheeling Island Stadium.
