BECKLEY -- A conference was held Tuesday, Nov. 3 on the campus of Mountain State University. The topic was diversity.
Students and community members gathered for the discussion. It was led by Diana Bell. She is a multi-award winning social worker, has served a long time community activist and advocate for social justice.
Bell currently serves as the Human Rights Commissioner for the City of Wheeling. She has dedicated her time traveling the state teaching about the importance and the value of diversity.
"We are all people. We are all the same basically. Diversity is what makes us such a unique country. We are all so different but we are all so unique and when we work together and bring all these things together this is a really great country," said Diana Bell.
Bell said the emphasis is appreciation, understandings of racism, its impacts and cross-cultural communication.
