Voters said yes to Issues 1, 2, and 3.

ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio -- Casino gambling could be on the way to the Buckeye State.

Voters in Ohio said yes to Issue 3, which would allow casinos to be built in Columbus, Cincinnati, Cleveland and Toledo. Supporters of the issue said it would be a huge economic boost bringing thousands of jobs to Ohio. But business owners said Issue 3 is anything but good for Ohio. Many said they would like to see businesses get a gaming license before a casino. Many thought Issue 3 would be defeated because Ohio voters have defeated gambling measures four times in the past.

Ohio voters also approved issue 2. which would allow for a constitutional amendment establishing a 12-member livestock board. That board would oversee standards for livestock care in Ohio. Proponents of the amendment said it would maintain food safety, encourage locally grown and raised food and protect Ohio farms and families.

And, as expected, Issue 1 won too. It would provide financial "bonuses" to veterans of the Persian Gulf, Afghanistan and Iraq wars. The issue authorizes up to $200 million in funding, financed by the sale of bonds. Supporters said the bonuses not only would show the state's veterans that Ohio appreciates their service, but also help them transition from the military back to civilian life.

I was first dissapointed in Donald Trump - chosing to make millions off other peoples weakness - after a noble success in real estate. My father, and his father before him, had the "sickness". He gambled away the downpayment on our first house ( I was 1 year old ) and we had to settle for a far too small house. And now the state I love is exploiting that same weakness. Again, I am highly dissappointed. How many other families will have to suffer now ? At the hands of our state government that is supposed to protect us. GOD HELP US ALL !

Frankly, growing up in Steuby. during the waining days of their "wide-open" crime spree, I accept human nature & that people will gamble no matter what. Leglislating morality has never worked & never will. I look at it as at least SOME business wants to come into Ohio, & can't think of another that pays 33% of their gross receipts off the top before they even START to look for a profit. Employees won't be on the welfare rolls, they will pay income taxes to the State, the casinos will pay revenue tax as will the adjacent hotels/restaurants.

I moved back here from the East Coast to retire as the taxes are lower here among other reasons. Anything that helps keep them that way is one less "Mom & Pop" who will need long-term care ( State paid) as 78,000,000 boomers start to descend on the States they grew up in. I see it happening regularily among my peers. And MOST of those States don't have the resources to add a huge additional deficet to their govern. rolls.

And like Myer Lansky, I don't gamble. I understand the odds too well.

Wonderful news.

Casino gambling closer to home is just what depressed, out-of-work people with addictive personalities need. Those with little left can now lose the rest to the seduction of potential fast, easy money.

You know who else has casino gambling? Detroit. They're doing pretty well these days I hear.

Wake up people! Those tax dollars coming in are yours, they're just being recycled.

Good thing nobody has any morals anymore because a few thousand unstable jobs in an unsavory industry are about to open up. Go get 'em.
