MORGANTOWN -- The Mountaineer men's basketball team opened its season Sunday afternoon, at the Coliseum, with an exhibition win over Mountain State University.
The final score was 104-82.
Sophomore forward Kevin Jones led WVU with 21 points.
Fellow sophomore Devin Ebanks and junior transfer Casey Mitchell added 19 points each.
Ebanks and Jones led the team with 10 rebounds apiece.
Everyone on the Mountaineer roster saw action with exception to red shirt junior Joe Mazzulla, who Coach Bob Huggins held out of the game.
Dalton Pepper led the freshmen with nine points in 13 minutes of action.
Despite a 20-game regular season suspension, freshman Deniz Kilicli played 19 minutes, finishing with eight points and six rebounds.
Forward Alvin Mitchell paced Mountain State with 33 points, while forward Nick Aldridge added 29.
More than 7,000 fans attended the game.
WVU opens the regular season at home, Sunday, Nov. 15 against Loyola of Maryland, at 4 p.m..
