Fight Over Stolen Power Tool Leads to Stabbing

Paul Cantrell was charged with malicious wounding, assault during the commission of a felony and brandishing a weapon. Victim Dock Roberts was listed in stable condition.

DAVY -- A McDowell County man is behind bars after an argument over a power tool turns into a stabbing.

State Troopers responded to a home in the Davy area just after 3 p.m. on November 11th after receiving reports of a stabbing.

Troopers said Paul Cantrell, 41, and Dock Roberts, 35, both of Davy, were fighting over an allegedly stolen chainsaw when Cantrell stabbed Roberts in the torso.

Roberts was transported to Welch Community Hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Cantrell was charged with malicious wounding, assault during the commission of a felony, and brandishing a weapon. He was taken to the McDowell County Jail pending arraignment.
