BECKLEY -- Santa Claus is coming to town, but don’t tell his reindeer.
The guy in a big red suit flew into Crossroads Mall on Saturday, but had a new ride, a helicopter.
Hundreds of children lined the parking lot waving as the helicopter flew back and forth. He eventually landed to an eruption of cheers. Mrs. Claus was standing by as the two boarded a fire truck escort to the front-doors of the mall.
A few children in the crowd told us they were excited not just for Santa, but presents, friends, and of course seeing their whole families together around the holidays.
Mattie Moretto was in the crowd with her family. She watched patiently as Willy Wonka, the Chick-fil-A cow and others passed by. Her eyes were set on Santa’s visit. She’s been here before, and says it’s a fun process.
“He flies in on this helicopter, and he’ll go in the mall and sit in his chair and then he gives all the boys and girls candy,” said Moretto.
Santa will be at the Crossroads mall from now until Christmas. They’ve made him available for pictures, at varying prices depending on the photo package. He’ll be available Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sundays from noon until 6 p.m.
