This week, three local schools will participate in the second annual "Take A Veteran to School Day" program.
Fayetteville High School will host veterans on Tuesday, Nov. 17. On Nov. 18, it moves to Summers County High School. Bluefield High School will hold the program on Nov. 19.
Veterans from many conflicts will be represented at the schools. The program provides students and teachers a chance to hear the stories first-hand from those who participated in the wars.
Students from Concord University will all be there to record the events for submission to the Library of Congress' Veterans History Project.
Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., is a supporter of the program.
"Our veterans have served our country and given so much of themselves to keep us safe," said Sen. Rockefeller. "Bringing veterans into schools across West Virginia to share their stories is an incredible real-life history lesson that will have a meaningful impact on our students."
Other schools participating in the program include: Brooke High School, Parkersburg High School, Morgantown High School, Robert C. Byrd High School, Hurricane High School, East Fairmont High School and Musselman High School.
