HINTON -- Hinton skateboarders have found a new place to let loose.
They can thank the city, as well as skateboard legend Tony Hawk. Hawk’s charity foundation donated money to help the city with the project. City Manager Cris Meadows says the park has been a huge success.
“Kids have been down there all week, everyday, it seems like it’s been a really good thing for the community,” said Meadows.
The park takes the place of an old basketball court that locals had not been using. The city pulled out the basketball hoops and poured concrete before adding the new ramps.
An official opening of the skate park is expected to take place in the coming weeks.
