Beckley Orthodontist presented the "Dental Do's and Don'ts" to students.

BECKLEY -- A local orthodontist gave middle schoolers some information they could sink their teeth into.
Wednesday Doctor Ed Eckley presented "Dental Do's and Don'ts" to students at Tamarack.
Raleigh County School Health Services organized the oral hygiene program for 6th graders from Independence Middle School. School nurse, Angie Foster, said it's important to make sure all students are on the same page when it comes to cleaning those pearly whites.
"Not all children, unfortunately, see a dentist or at their home have a parent or anyone to instruct them on proper oral hygiene and how to floss and brush at least twice a day. So we thought it was important to bring them here and teach them that," said Foster.
Students not only got a look at the effects of caffeine and sugar on teeth, they got a quick glance at future career opportunities in the dental health field.
