HUNTINGTON -- It wasn't easy, but it was a win.
On Senior Day, Marshall snuck by SMU in a 34-31 nail biter at Joan C. Edwards Stadium.
Marshall went up by 10 points with just over two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
SMU struck back on a quick drive that ended with a nine-yard touchdown run by Zach Line with 40 seconds left.
But Marshall was able to recover the ensuing on-side kick and run out the game clock.
Martin Ward and Terrel Edwards-Maye combined for almost 250 yards on the ground.
Brian Anderson finished the day with 225 yards and two touchdowns.
The win is Marshall's sixth and makes them eligible to play in a bowl game.
Marshall's final game of the regular season is scheduled for Nov. 28 at UTEP. The kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
