ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The West Virginia University Mountaineers beat the Texas A&M Aggies in Friday afternoon's game in the 76 Classic.
Da'Sean Butler led the Mountaineer offense with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Devin Ebanks, back for his second game after a short sabbatical, came off the bench with 14 points.
Darryl "Truck" Bryant scored 12 points, and Kevin Jones added 11 points of his own.
The Mountaineers went 51 percent from the field and 77 percent from the line, but only made 8 of 20 three-pointers.
There were several lead changes in the first half with the Aggies leading 34-32 at the half.
The Mountaineers resurged, and after regaining the lead, only gave it up once in the second half on a Dash Harris dunk with less than 16 minutes left to play.
Butler scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half and Ebanks also had a good second half showing to lead the Mountaineers to their 73-66 victory. Butler led the team in points and assists; Ebanks grabbed the rest of the statistics leading WVU in rebounds, steals and blocks.
The Mountaineers will play again Sunday. They'll take on the winner of Friday night's Minnesota vs Portland game.
