ST.CLAIRSVILLE -- St.Clairsville High School's Red Devil Stadium is under construction.
Crews are doing prep work for the installation of a new turf from Covenant Sports Turf out of Uniontown, Ohio.
Miller Construciton and Powell Excavating are doing the work, which will be shut down in a few weks for winter. They'll resume installation in the spring with hopes of completing the project on July 1.
In addition to the turf, a nine-lane, all-weather track is being installed around the football field.
"It's a multi-purpose facility," said Athletic Director Kelly Rine. "We'll use it for physical education classes, spring sports, and soccer games. We call it our district's biggest classroom."
The home side grandstands will remain, but the bleachers on the visiting side are being replaced.
The entire project came in at a little under a millon dollars and will be finished in time for the 2010 season.
But the Red Devils are still looking for an opponent for their home-opener on August 27.
