Power crews are still working to restore electricity to thousands of customers.

RALEIGH COUNTY -- The winter weather has knocked out power to hundreds of customers in our region. The hardest hit areas have been in Raleigh, Greenbrier, Fayette and Mercer Counties. In the Ghent area of Raleigh County, residents and business owners have been dealing without electricity since the overnight hours. Crews have been working just as long to restore power. Emergency dispatch centers across our viewing area were busy taking calls of downed trees, downed power lines, and transformers on fire.
Business owners suffering from these problems said it took a huge toll on business.
"This is bad news because we open at 5:30 and we're busy non-stop. And it's hurt sales today cause we don't have power. Didn't have no coffee. Can't sell gas," said Little General Store Manager, Beverly Farrish.
The Mercer County 911 center also reported a power outage issue. They have since rectified the problem. They said they have a back-up system that kept them from their losing phone lines. They confirm that at no point were they unable to take emergency calls.
