MULLENS -
In an effort to step into someone else's shoes WVNS-TV's evening news anchor, Lauren Weppler, is performing various jobs around the community.
Tuesday, Oct. 1, Weppler was a radio disc jockey, but this week she was swapping the microphone for a pair of tools.
Weppler began her day as farrier with a history lesson of the tools one would and can use to shoe a horse from Bunch McKinney, a retired farrier from the Mullens area.
McKinney warns Weppler that some horses like to have shoes put on and others aren't so comfortable with the task.
"I'm a little nervous," admits Weppler.
McKinney shows her how to clean and file the horses hoof to have proper placement of the shoe.
After completing the task McKinney awards Weppler with a certificate of excellence and a trophy.
