Tim Carrico

Posted: Updated:

Tim Carrico showed an unquenchable thirst for the news from a very early age. Tim applied for and was accepted as an intern for 59News in July 2008. In August 2009 he became a part-time photojournalist and reporter. Currently, Tim is the lead weekend anchor and producer. He is the youngest member ever to work with the West Virginia Media Holdings company.

Tim comes to WVNS as a student from Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, from where he is set to graduate in 2012. After graduation from high school, he plans to pursue a college degree in mass communication and broadcast journalism, with the ultimate goal of becoming a national network news anchor.

During Tim's time with 59News, he's covered stories from the Upper Big Branch mine explosion in April 2010 to the inaugural Greenbrier Classic. Some of his most memorable interviews were with NASA astronaut and Beckley native John McBride, college football quarterback and motivational speaker Tim Tebow, and a one-on-one interview with golf legend Arnold Palmer.

In 2003 and 2004, before Tim joined the 59News team, he worked as an anchor and reporter for West Virginia Media's Kidz Newz. Airing statewide on a weekly basis, he anchored shows from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida and accomplished his first live-shot in front of the camera at age 10 on Bridge Day from the New River Gorge Bridge. He has also been the executive producer and editor of Woodrow Wilson High School's daily newscast called Flying Eagle News.

When he is not working at 59 News, Tim enjoys spending time with his family and friends, editing and filming local weddings and special events, hunting, fishing and playing golf.
